Primary, Urgent or Virtual Care?

Here’s How to Decide

When you have a minor illness or injury, knowing where to get care is the first step to feeling better. CHI Saint Joseph Health offers a variety of high-quality options to meet your needs, either close to home or right from your phone. Use this quick guide to help you choose.

Think it’s an emergency? Call 911 immediately or go to your nearest ER.

Primary Care

Your primary care provider should usually be your first call for non-emergency situations. As your partner in wellness, your provider knows your health history, including medications, existing conditions or other factors that may affect treatment. They can also refer you directly to a specialist if needed, and provide ongoing support to help keep you and your family healthy.

Virtual Care

New and existing patients can now schedule a virtual care appointment with a CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group provider. You can visit a health care professional without leaving home through Zoom, a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing tool. If you have a CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group provider, call their office for virtual visit information. If you are a new patient, call 859.313.2255.

After hours? Connect virtually with a provider on an urgent care visit after hours and on weekends through our Virtual Care Anywhere app. Virtual care after hours lets you see a board-certified doctor or registered nurse practitioner on-demand. We’ll assess your symptoms, answer questions and provide any treatment recommendations. Available 24/7, no appointment necessary.
