Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation & Prevention
Saint Joseph London Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention Services is a comprehensive program designed to improve the quality of life for those suffering from heart, vascular and lung disease. Patients undergoing cardiopulmonary rehabilitation will receive a thorough evaluation, education, prescribed exercise and counseling services.
The program consist of three phases:
Phase 1 - Inpatient
Patients who are still in the hospital following a cardiac event will be provided with education about heart disease, such as signs and symptoms, do's and don'ts at home, and medication instructions. Follow-up planning is provided for transition to the next phase.
Phase 2 - Early Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation
Typically starting two weeks following a cardiac event, patients learn how to reduce heart and lung disease risk through focused education, counseling and exercise. Experienced nurses provide monitoring and supervision. This phase is covered by most insurance plans and Medicare Part B.
Phase 3 - Maintenance Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
Patients undergo supervised exercise and risk factor modification. This program is an affordable alternative to a traditional gym membership and allows patients to continue with their exercise in a safe and comfortable environment.
Ask your cardiologist, pulmonologist or family physician if cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is right for you. Once prescribed, call our office to schedule your intake assessment, which will be conducted by one of our professional staff.
