MORE:
Approximately 40 women will hit the hardwood of Rupp Arena for the Women’s 101 Clinic. In one of the world’s elite basketball settings, the clinic tips off just in time for tournament season. Participants will learn about basketball fundamentals and shoot some hoops on the floor of Rupp Arena. KentuckyOne Health sponsored a Facebook contest where 40 lucky ladies were selected.

In celebration of February being Heart Health Month, women participating in this event will learn hands-only CPR before taking the court. Individuals can be trained in hands-only CPR in as little as five minutes. A report from the Institute of Medicine found that individuals who live in areas where bystanders are more likely to start CPR have a better chance of survival following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Not only is hands-only CPR easier for the public to learn and remember, but research shows bystanders are more likely to act when they don’t have to do mouth-to-mouth.
