Welcome Spring with Flaget Memorial Hospital Walk with a Doc

Bardstown, Ky. (April 1, 2015)—  Enjoy the blooms of Spring while getting a dose of recommended exercise with Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health. The facility will host its monthly Walk with a Doc event on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Old Courthouse Building downtown (One Court Square).

This month’s event will feature David Shelton, ARNP, with KentuckyOne Health Cardiology Associates, who will discuss hypertension and cholesterol and how exercise impacts them.

Flaget Memorial Hospital hosts Walk with a Doc events monthly on the second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. as part of a nationwide program that empowers people to improve their health through physical activity by exercising side-by-side with their health care providers. Participants can also receive complimentary health screenings at the event.

All are welcome; participants are encouraged to invite family and friends to walk together toward a healthier lifestyle.

According to America Walks, brisk walking has been shown to reduce body fat, lower blood pressure, increase high-density lipoprotein, and even reduce risks of bone fracture. Not only that, it is also associated with lower mortality rates from cardiovascular disease and cancer.
