University of Louisville Hospital Opens Outpatient Infusion Center

Louisville, Ky. (July 15, 2015)— University of Louisville Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, has opened an outpatient infusion center in its Outpatient Care Center located at 401 E. Chestnut Street in downtown Louisville. The new location expands KentuckyOne Health’s current infusion options for both patients and providers.

The center provides intravenous infusions of fluids and medications and therapeutic injections in an accessible outpatient environment. Infusion therapy is particularly beneficial for patients that cannot take medications by mouth.

The new center offers full-scale infusion services for patients in need of non-oncology infusion of medications for conditions such as:
    •    multiple sclerosis
    •    anemia
    •    gastrointestinal issues such as inflammatory bowel disease or Crohn’s disease
    •    hepatic disease
    •    renal disease
    •    dehydration
“We are pleased to expand our pharmacy services on our downtown Louisville campus to include infusion services for patients with select medical conditions, and we hope to be able to expand what we offer in the future,” said Jessie Morgan, Manager of Outpatient Pharmacy Services at University of Louisville Hospital. “This service gives patients a quick and convenient way to receive certain medications in a comfortable outpatient environment.”

Within the KentuckyOne Health system in Louisville, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center and Medical Center Jewish Northeast also provide comprehensive infusion services that include cancer infusion therapies. Cancer and Blood Specialists, another KentuckyOne Health facility, is a cancer-only infusion center.
