Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Foundation Awards
$3,000 in Scholarships to KentuckyOne Nurses
Three nurses awarded scholarships in the Mount Sterling area

Mt. Sterling, Ky. (November 13, 2017) – The Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Foundation, part of KentuckyOne Health, recently awarded three $1,000 scholarships to KentuckyOne nurses in the Mount Sterling area, who are looking to expand their career in nursing and health care. The funding will help provide the nurses with scholarship opportunities and the ability to help pay off student loans

Patients and their families regularly depend on a nurse’s physical and mental aid during healing and recovery. These scholarships allow students to have the most up-to-date tools and training to not only benefit their future careers in nursing, but to benefit patients and make a difference in their lives.

This is the first year the Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Foundation has awarded scholarships. A reception was held on Thursday, October 26 at Saint Joseph Mount Sterling to honor the students chosen to receive a scholarship.

“Nurses often make sacrifices to improve themselves and, ultimately, to improve the care they provide to their patients,” said Leslie Smart, president, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Foundation. “We’re honored to award scholarships to these deserving students whose future sacrifices will result in wellness, healing and hope for all those we serve.”

The nurses who were awarded a scholarship include Lana McDonald, who is pursuing a nursing and leadership degree from Western Governors University; Ashley Stephens, who is pursuing a BSN from Walden University; and Cynthia Bailey, who is pursuing a BSN from Morehead University.
