Saint Joseph London Invites Community to Walk with a Doc June 13

London, Ky. (June 4, 2015)— Enjoy a beautiful morning in June while getting a healthy amount of exercise with Saint Joseph London, part of KentuckyOne Health. The hospital will host a Walk with a Doc event on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the lake walking path on facility’s grounds.

The event will feature Alan Oster, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with KentuckyOne Health Orthopedic Associates in London.

Saint Joseph London hosts monthly Walk with a Doc events as part of a nationwide program that empowers people to improve their health through physical activity by exercising side-by-side with their health care providers. Walks are held on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.

According to America Walks, brisk walking has been shown to reduce body fat, lower blood pressure, increase high-density lipoprotein and even reduce risks of bone fracture. It is also associated with lower mortality rates from cardiovascular disease and cancer.

In addition to the numerous health benefits from walking, participants will have the opportunity to talk with a physician and ask questions in a relaxed environment.

All are welcome; participants are encouraged to invite family and friends to walk together toward a healthier lifestyle.
