Saint Joseph London Hosts Free Go Red for Women
Heart Health Awareness Health Fair and Luncheon

London, Ky. (September 21, 2017)— As part of the national effort to increase awareness of cardiovascular disease in women, Saint Joseph London, part of KentuckyOne Health, is partnering with the American Heart Association to host a Go Red for Women event, featuring a health fair and screenings, and a lunch and learn presentation.

The health fair and screenings take place from 11 a.m.-noon on Tuesday, October 10. The lunch and learn presentation will follow, from noon-1 p.m. The Go Red for Women event will take place at the London Community Center, located at 529 South Main Street.

During the health fair, participants can be screened for blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, cholesterol, oxygen saturation, vascular disease and varicose veins.

The lunch and learn presentation will feature David Keedy, MD, KentuckyOne Health Cardiology Associates, who will discuss how heart disease affects women differently and what women can do to lower their risk. Complimentary lunch will be provided.

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women, and a staggering 90 percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. Statistics show that 80 percent of heart disease and stroke events in women may be prevented by lifestyle changes and education.
