Saint Joseph Hospital to Host Walk with a Doc at Winburn Center Community Health and Fun Day

Lexington, Ky. (June 3, 2015)—Saint Joseph Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, will host a special Walk with a Doc event in collaboration with the Winburn Center Community Health and Fun Day on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11 a.m.

KentuckyOne Health Walk with a Doc events are part of a nationwide program that empowers people to improve their health through physical activity as they exercise side-by-side with their health care providers.

All are welcome; participants are encouraged to invite family and friends to walk together toward a healthier lifestyle.

Winburn Center Community Health and Fun Day will be held at 1169 Winburn Drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include many fun activities for the entire family.

KentuckyOne Health hosts regular Walk with a Doc events in Lexington bi-monthly on the third Saturday of the month from 10-11 a.m. The next event is planned for August 22, 2015 at the Northside YMCA, 381 W Loudon Ave. in Lexington.

Walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity, according to the American Heart Association. Research has shown that you could gain two hours of life for each hour of regular exercise.

Community partners for the Walk with a Doc events include: Lexington-Fayette County Health Dept., Lexington Parks and Recreation, Passport Health Plan and YMCA of Central Kentucky.
