Saint Joseph East Among Top 10 Percent in Nation for Pulmonary Care

Lexington, Ky. (August 28, 2017) – Pulmonary Care at Saint Joseph East, part of KentuckyOne Health, is among the top 10 percent in the nation as measured by volume-weighted performance, according to this year’s evaluation from Healthgrades, a leading online resource helping consumers make informed decisions about physicians, hospitals and comprehensive care.

Healthgrades has recognized Saint Joseph East with its Pulmonary Care Excellence Award™ after evaluation of nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions*.

“Being recognized for quality and safety is a great honor,” said Eric Gilliam, president, Saint Joseph East. “I’m proud of our team and the work they do to deliver the best care to our community.”

The achievement is part of findings released in the Healthgrades 2017 Report to the Nation. The report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals nationally, regionally and at the local level, and the impact that this variation may have on health outcomes.

This is the second consecutive year Saint Joseph East has been recognized with the Pulmonary Care Excellence award. The hospital also achieved five-star ratings for treatments of Heart Failure, Spinal Fusion Surgery, Pneumonia, and Sepsis.
