KentuckyOne Health to Host Community Health Fair on June 27
Event brings free screenings and health information to south Louisville

Louisville, Ky. (June 15, 2015)—KentuckyOne Health will bring free health screenings and more to South Louisville this month as the host of the Southwest Community Health Fair on Saturday, June 27, 2015. The event will be held at Louisville First Church of the Nazarene, located at 3503 Blanton Lane, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The health fair will offer a number of screenings and demos including mammography screenings in the James Graham Brown Cancer Center mobile unit, blood pressure checks, head and neck cancer screenings, carbon monoxide testing, dermascan to detect facial sun damage, medication education provided by Walgreens and more.

“Events like this are vital to keeping the community healthy and well,” said Jennifer Nolan, president, Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. “In a community where data shows higher incidences of smoking, breast cancer and other conditions, the opportunity to interact with healthcare providers in a setting like this is vital to improving access to care. Improving access to preventive care is critical to our mission to bring wellness, healing and hope to all, including the underserved.”

Physicians and health care professionals will answer questions and provide information to attendees. Representatives from KentuckyOne Health Cancer Care, Heart and Vascular Care, Primary Care, Stroke Care and the Healthy Lifestyle Centers, Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, University of Louisville Hospital Burn Unit, Frazier Rehab Institute, volunteer services and more will be present.

Health fair attendees will have the opportunity to walk-through and inflatable heart and colon, sign up for a free EKG and take part in yoga and massage demos.

Attendees can also register for a chance to win a number of prizes, including a Fitbit® fitness tracker and a free one-month membership to the KentuckyOne Healthy Lifestyle Centers. The event is free to the public.
