KentuckyOne Health Physician Receives Award of Excellence
Dr. Ralph Alvarado honored by the Kentucky Hospital Association

Winchester, Ky. (May 26, 2016) – A KentuckyOne physician has received a top honor from the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA), for devoting his career to citizens across Kentucky.

Senator Ralph Alvarado, MD, KentuckyOne Health Medical Group, was honored with the KHA’s Award of Excellence, for serving the healthcare needs of Kentucky’s citizens with a “servant” attitude, and taking his dedication one step further to seek public office.

Senator Alvarado was elected to office in 2014 and represents Senate District 28, covering Clark and Montgomery counties, and part of Fayette County.

Alvarado currently serves as medical director, board member, and chairman of the Finance Committee for KentuckyOne Health Medical Group.

Along with Alvarado, a KentuckyOne Health hospital also received an award from the Kentucky Hospital Association. Continuing Care Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, was one of six hospitals in Kentucky to receive a Quality Award. Continuing Care Hospital was honored with the award for its medication reconciliation program, which compares a patient’s medication orders to all of the medications that the patient has been taking, helping to avoid medication errors such as omissions, duplications, dosing errors or drug interactions.

The Lexington long-term hospital acts as a “hospital within a hospital” and is located within Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East. Continuing Care Hospital also received the Quality Award in 2012 and 2013.
