KentuckyOne Health Partners Selected Among “100 Accountable Care Organizations to Know” in 2016 by Becker’s Hospital Review

Louisville, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2016)— For the fourth year, KentuckyOne Health Partners, a provider-based, physician-led clinically integrated network developed by KentuckyOne Health, was recognized as one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “100 Accountable Care Organizations to Know.” The list highlights some of the most advanced Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) in the country.

Currently the largest ACO in the state, KentuckyOne Health Partners coordinates the care for more than 100,000 lives under contract and works with nearly 2,000 participating physicians. With its state-of-the-art information system and compassionate care management team, the organization ranks in the top quartile nationally among all ACOs for factors such as size, efficiency and satisfaction. KentuckyOne Health Partners also oversees the largest and most successful Medicare orthopedic hip and knee surgery episode program in Kentucky, avoiding unnecessary days in the hospital and improving patient satisfaction.

“We are delighted to again be listed among the top ACOs in the country,” said Don Lovasz, president, KentuckyOne Health Partners. “Our outstanding care management team works with physician and facility partners, continually striving to improve the quality and value of Kentucky health care.”

ACOs are groups of doctors, hospitals and other health care providers that come together voluntarily to provide coordinated care to Medicare patients. The goal of an ACO is to ensure patients get the care they need, while avoiding unnecessary duplication of services and preventing medical errors.

This is the fifth year Becker’s Hospital Review has published its list of ACOs to know. ACOs were selected for inclusion based on a number of factors, including quality and cost performance, participation in CMS’ Next Generation Model, the Pioneer Model, advanced tracks of the Medicare Shared Savings Program and if it has recently struck new commercial agreements.
