KentuckyOne Health Names New Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors

Louisville, Ky. (October 20, 2015) – KentuckyOne Health has named Richard A. Schultz chairman of the board of directors and Jane J. Chiles as vice chair. Schultz succeeds Bob Hewett who served as board chairman since KentuckyOne’s inception in 2012.

The board’s membership consists of community and business leaders from across the state, along with leaders from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence (Louisville), Catholic Health Initiatives (Denver) and the University of Louisville.

“Richard and Jane have been with us from the beginning as we have successfully integrated KentuckyOne Health into a dynamic health system, improved our financial performance, and developed signature programs to improve the health status of citizens across the Commonwealth,” said Ruth W. Brinkley, president/CEO, KentuckyOne Health. “They will provide leadership to our board members as we continue to move forward with the ever-changing health care landscape.”

Brinkley added, “I would also like to recognize Bob Hewett for his leadership as board chair from KentuckyOne Health’s inception in 2012. Bob will continue to be a valued member of the board moving forward.”

Schultz has been involved in the Louisville community since the 1970s when he served as president of Paul Schultz Advertising until 2007.  Schultz, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, has served on the KentuckyOne Health board since the organization’s inception in January 2012, having previously served on the board of one of KentuckyOne’s predecessor organizations, Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare. He was also previously a trustee on The First Tee of Louisville board of directors.

Schultz has also served on the boards of the Walden School, American Heart Association, Allan Houston Celebrity Golf Tournament benefitting Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Cardiovascular Innovation Institute and the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence.

Jane J. Chiles, also appointed to the board in January 2012, is now the vice chair. She was previously on the board of directors for Saint Joseph Hospital, now part of KentuckyOne Health.

In 2005, Chiles co-founded the Friedell Committee for Health System Transformation with a mission to improve the health of Kentuckians. She was previously vice chair, and continues to serve on the Friedell Committee board.

From 1990 to 2002, Chiles was employed by the Catholic Conference of Kentucky, lobbying on the state level and to some degree on the federal level on a wide range of social issues. From 2000 to 2002, she served as a trustee of the Catholic Health Association, a national organization dealing with institutional issues in acute, long-term care and home health. During that time, she also served as vice chair of the National Association of State Catholic Conference Directors.

Chiles is a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago, and now resides in Lexington.
