KentuckyOne Health Hospital Receives Quality Award
Continuing Care Hospital honored by the Kentucky Hospital Association

Lexington, Ky. (May 26, 2016) – Continuing Care Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, has received a top honor from the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA), demonstrating dedication to patient safety and care.

On May 13, at the 87th Annual KHA Convention in Lexington, six hospitals were recognized with KHA Quality Awards, which honor hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety and commitment to patient care.

Continuing Care Hospital received a Quality Award for its medication reconciliation program, which compares a patient’s medication orders to all of the medications that the patient has been taking, helping to avoid medication errors such as omissions, duplications, dosing errors or drug interactions.

The Lexington long-term hospital acts as a “hospital within a hospital” and is located within Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East. Continuing Care Hospital also received the Quality Award in 2012 and 2013.

Along with Continuing Care Hospital, a KentuckyOne physician also received a top honor from the Kentucky Hospital Association.

Senator Ralph Alvarado, MD, KentuckyOne Health Medical Group, Winchester, received KHA’s Award of Excellence for devoting his career to serving the healthcare needs of Kentucky’s citizens with a “servant” attitude, and taking it a step further to seek public office. Senator Alvarado was elected to office in 2014 and represents Senate District 28, covering Clark and Montgomery counties, and part of Fayette County.

Alvarado currently serves as medical director, board member, and chairman of the Finance Committee for KentuckyOne Health Medical Group.
