Flaget Memorial Hospital Hosts Walk With a Doc on November 8
Bardstown, Ky. (October 31, 2014) — Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, will give local residents the opportunity to exercise alongside physicians, have their health related questions answered and receive complementary health screenings at this month’s Walk With a Doc event on Saturday, November 8, 2014.
The monthly events take place on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. The walk is lead by a local physician and begins at the Old Courthouse Building downtown (One Court Square).
Walk With a Doc is a nationwide program that empowers people to improve their health through physical activity by exercising side-by-side with their health care providers.
No special equipment or registration is needed to participate. All are welcome; participants are encouraged to invite family and friends to walk together toward a healthier lifestyle.
Walking for as little as 30 minutes a day can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels, maintain body weight and lower the risk of obesity, enhance mental well-being, improve blood lipid profile, and can reduce the risk of osteoporosis, breast and colon cancer and Type 2 diabetes.
