Flaget Memorial Hospital Honors Employees with Daisy and Rose Awards

Bardstown, Ky. (May 18, 2017) — Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, has named Daisy Award and Rose Award winners for the first quarter of 2017. Sarah Adams, RN, Cancer Center, was the recipient of the Daisy Award. Mary Ballard, medical lab technician, received the Rose Award.

The Daisy Award is a nationwide program that celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. KentuckyOne Health is proud to be a Daisy Award Partner, recognizing a nurse with this special honor every quarter.

Adams was nominated by her colleague, Maggie Smith, RN, for outstanding service to patients, fellow co-workers and the Cancer Center. Adams is known for ensuring that patients receive high-quality patient care and recently earned her oncology nursing certification.

“Sarah never fails to help out her co-workers when needed and always takes on extra responsibilities with grace,” said Smith. “She goes above and beyond to help patients and employees and has truly earned this award.”

Similarly, the Rose Award is a program that honors Flaget Memorial Hospital’s non-nursing personnel. The Rose Award, short for Recognition of Service Excellence, celebrates unsung heroes who work tirelessly to provide the best possible service.

Mary Ballard was nominated by Louis Ballard, a volunteer. Ballard is being honored for her work within the hospital and her commitment to her co-workers and patients.

“Mary is an excellent employee who goes above the call of duty each day,” said Louis Ballard. “Aside from her leadership within the hospital, she is also a caring and compassionate employee. She truly deserves this award.”

The Daisy Award winner will receive a certificate, Daisy Award pin and a hand carved stone sculpture. The Rose Award winner is honored with a certificate, Rose Award pin and a bouquet of roses to display in her department.
