Eleven-Year-Old Girl Donating 340 Pairs of Shoes to Kids in Need
Carleigh Hofelich held collection drive last fall; Donating shoes this week

A 11-year-old girl who collected hundreds of shoes for kids in need will donate the items this week to the Kosair Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace, part of KentuckyOne Health. Carleigh Hofelich kicked off her annual fundraiser last September called “Carleigh’s Kicks for Kids.” In addition to the shoe donation, Carleigh will be surprised by a mural that was painted as a tribute to her by art therapists at Our Lady of Peace.

This is the fourth year for Carleigh’s collection drive. She collected 340 pairs of shoes for this donation drive, which will be given to other kids and young adults.

Last fall, drop-off sites for “Carleigh’s Kicks for Kids” were set up at Our Lady of Peace and Baptist Health Floyd.

In 2016, Carleigh won a Jefferson Award and was a finalist for a Youth Philanthropy Award for her efforts with this shoe drive collection.
