$40,000 Grant Helps Expand KentuckyOne Health Cancer Care at Saint Joseph East
Gifts made in memory of patient who passed away in 2014

Lexington, Ky. (March 13, 2017) – The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation, part of KentuckyOne Health, has received $40,000 in donations that helped with the expansion of KentuckyOne Health Cancer Care at Saint Joseph East. The gifts were made in memory of Lesa Taylor – a former patient who passed away from breast cancer in 2014. The Lexington Cancer Foundation, Traditional Bank, and family and friends of Lesa Taylor – including Stephen and Lisa Gray, and Jamie Taylor – all contributed, which created a satellite pharmacy and the addition of a new consultation room.

The named consultation room at KentuckyOne Health Cancer Care will honor Lesa Taylor, a wife and mother of three sons, who battled breast cancer for two years. The room is named in her memory and includes her framed pink boxing gloves – a gift from her husband, Jamie Taylor, signifying her strength – to help encourage other women in the fight against breast cancer.

“Breast cancer impacts so many of our loved ones, and this generous gift will help as we continue the fight against cancer,” said Eric Gilliam, president, Saint Joseph East. “Every patient who visits the Lesa Taylor Consultation Room will know Lesa’s story, and how we are all fighting this disease together.”

The new KentuckyOne Cancer Care satellite pharmacy will allow chemotherapy protocols to be prepared on site, resulting in a quicker treatment process for patients. The new consultation room will allow patients to have a comfortable and private place to speak with their physician. An open house is planned for March 30 at 5 p.m.
