Walk With a Doc and Enjoy May Flowers - Archived

Bardstown, Ky. (May 2, 2014)— Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, will give local residents the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of spring while getting some exercise this May at its monthly Walk With a Doc event on Saturday, May 10, 2014.

Walk With a Doc events allow local residents to engage in physical activity alongside physicians, have their health related questions answered and receive complementary health screenings at the monthly event.

The monthly events take place at 10 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month. The walks begin at the Old Courthouse Building downtown (One Court Square) and are lead by a local physician.

Flaget Memorial Hospital is hosting the regular Walk With a Doc events free of charge as part of a nationwide program that empowers people to improve their health through physical activity by exercising side-by-side with their health care providers. Participants will have the chance to spend time with physicians in a non-structured way, allowing them to ask questions that wouldn’t come up in regular doctors visits.

All are welcome; participants are encouraged to invite family and friends to walk together toward a healthier lifestyle.

Walking is a great entryway to exercise, allowing even those with orthopedic ailments, heart conditions and the overweight to participate in needed physical activity. Just one hour of regular exercise can potentially add up to two hours of life expectancy.
