WINCHESTER, Ky. (July 19, 2023) – CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition of Sara Ballard, APRN, to its primary care team in Winchester. As a dedicated and compassionate advanced practice registered nurse, Ballard brings a wealth of experience in patient care, providing appropriate treatment for patients with a wide range of complex medical needs.
Ballard comes from a long line of medical providers, including her mother, who worked as an emergency room nurse, and her father, who served as a paramedic and is currently the Madison County coroner. “I grew up around medicine and always enjoyed it,” said Ballard. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and has found a true passion for nursing.
Ballard’s entire nursing career has been spent in the Emergency Department at the University of Kentucky Level One Trauma Center. Her ability to manage patients with diverse health care needs has been instrumental in delivering high quality care. Although she loves emergency medicine and the adrenaline it brings, she believes moving to primary is the perfect next step in her career journey.
“With the goal of starting a family, I realized that primary care would allow me to balance my passion for patient care with the ability to spend quality time with my loved ones,” said Ballard. “I am excited to begin this new adventure and expand my knowledge and skills in a different practice setting.”
Ballard earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky in 2018 and her Master of Science in nursing this year from Eastern Kentucky University. Throughout her academic journey, she has demonstrated exceptional clinical skills during rotations with various rural primary care clinics in Richmond, Winchester and Irvine.
In her new role at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Winchester, Ballard is eager to expand her knowledge and continue providing personalized, high-quality care to her patients. “I believe in individualizing each patient’s care while respecting their health care goals to make them feel like my family or friends,” said Ballard.
A Richmond native, Ballard is excited to serve the nearby Winchester community and provide care to patients who remind her of her hometown population. She believes in making a difference in the lives of patients through compassionate and personalized care.
When Ballard is not treating patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their nearly 1-year-old daughter. Together, they love family activities that involve traveling, hiking and cooking.
