Saint Joseph London to Discuss Stroke Awareness During Bite Size Learning Event - Archived

London, Ky. (May 31, 2019) – Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States has a stroke. With a reported 800,000 cases treated each year, strokes are the fifth leading cause of death in men and women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Learning what to do if you or someone you know is having a stroke can greatly reduce the risk of permanent brain damage, long-term disability and even death.

Saint Joseph London invites the community to learn more about stroke care during an upcoming Bite Size Learning event on Wednesday, July 17, from noon to 1 p.m., at the Laurel County Public Library, located at 120 College Park Drive in London. Linda Lewis, Stroke Coordinator, Saint Joseph London, will address some of the most common questions about strokes, including how to spot the warning signs and the best ways to reduce your risk.

Bite Size Learning is an educational series sponsored by Saint Joseph London. Each month, a physician or staff member from Saint Joseph London hosts a special lunch-and-learn style presentation on a different health topic to increase awareness and educate the public.

Advance registration for this event is requested. Saint Joseph London provides free box lunches to registered attendees. To preregister, call 606.864.5759.
