Saint Joseph London to Discuss Breast Cancer Detection During Bite Size Learning Event

Free health education event at Laurel County Public Library

London, Ky. (October 11, 2017) – Saint Joseph London, part of KentuckyOne Health, invites the community to learn about breast cancer detection, at the Bite Size Learning health education event on Wednesday, October 18. The event will take place from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Laurel County Public Library, located at 120 College Park Drive in London.

Quehuong Pham, MD, KentuckyOne Health Surgery Associates, will be the featured guest speaker. Advance registration is requested. Saint Joseph London provides free box lunches to registered attendees.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the disease, which affects about 1 in 8 women in the United States over the course of their lifetime, according to the National Cancer Institute. While breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, statistics show many women are beating the disease. Breast cancer death rates have decreased nearly forty percent, since 1990, according to the American College of Radiology, as a result of screenings and better treatment.

Bite Size Learning is an educational series sponsored by Saint Joseph London. Each month, a physician or staff member from Saint Joseph London hosts a special lunch-and-learn-style presentation on a different health topic to increase awareness and educate the public.

The event is free to the public, but those interested are encouraged to preregister at 606.864.5759.
