Saint Joseph London Hires Two in Leadership

Shelley Stanko, M.D. will serve in new role as Chief Medical Officer

 

London, Ky. (October 7, 2013)— Saint Joseph London, part of KentuckyOne Health, is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the hospital’s leadership team. Shelley Stanko, M.D. has been named the facility’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chris Schweighardt, RN has been named Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Dr. Stanko, a Laurel County native, has been an active member of the Saint Joseph London medical staff since 2004 and has served in several leadership roles during her tenure. In her new role, Stanko will be responsible for supporting the functions of the hospital’s medical staff, while also overseeing compliance with best practice protocols and appropriate resource utilization. Dr. Stanko will continue to see patients at her current location.

 

“I am very excited to take on my new role as chief medical officer and I plan to uphold the same quality of excellence that residents have come to expect from Saint Joseph London,” said Dr. Stanko.

tanko was in the first graduating class of South Laurel High School in 1993. She has practiced Family Medicine at Saint Joseph London since 2004.  After high school, she attended Georgetown College and medical school at the University of Kentucky and completed her residency with Cabarrus Family Medical, an affiliate of the University of North Carolina.  Stanko is also a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and an assistant clinical professor at the University of Louisville.

 

Stanko has been married to her husband, Ed, for 14 years and together have three children, Ellie, Will and Rose.  The family, and extended family, are active members  at London’s First Baptist Church.  She has served on the Laurel County Board of Health since 2005 and, beginning this year, serves as the physician advisor to the Laurel County School Nurse Program.

 

“In my time at Saint Joseph London, I have been impressed with Dr. Stanko’s knowledge, engagement and passion for her profession and in quality improvement,” said Greg Gerard, president of Saint Joseph London. “Her commitment is without question and I know she will bring the same energy & passion to her new role as CMO.”

Schweighardt named Chief Nursing Officer    

 

Chris Schweighardt, a Lexington native, comes to Saint Joseph London from another KentuckyOne facility, Saint Joseph Berea, where he has served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer since 2011. He has also served as interim CNO for Saint Joseph London and interim president for Saint Joseph Berea. Prior to his work in Berea, he served as Director of Nursing for Our Lady of Peace in Louisville. Schweighardt received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Kentucky and his Masters of Science in Nursing at Eastern Kentucky University.
