Saint Joseph Hospital Named One of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2023 by Healthgrades

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 17, 2023) – Saint Joseph Hospital today announced that it is one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2023, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. This achievement puts Saint Joseph Hospital in the top 2% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance across the most common conditions and procedures. This is the fifth consecutive year Saint Joseph Hospital has been listed among the top hospitals in the nation, having previously been recognized among the Top 250 hospitals by Healthgrades.

“Saint Joseph Hospital is honored to be named by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2023, said Anthony A. Houston, EdD, FACHE, CEO, CHI Saint Joseph Health. “It has been a challenging few years in health care; however, I remain inspired by the dedication to excellence and humankindness our caregivers demonstrate each and every day. Their commitment has allowed us to again be recognized as a leading hospital in the U.S.”

Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation between America’s Best 100 Hospitals and hospitals that did not receive the distinction. In fact, if all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 100 Best, over 158,000 lives could have been saved.*

“We’re proud to recognize Saint Joseph Hospital as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2023,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “As one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals, Saint Joseph Hospital consistently delivers better-than-expected outcomes for the patients in their community and is setting a high national standard for clinical excellence.”
