Our Lady of Peace Honored with Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award - Archived

Louisville, Ky. (May 13, 2014)—Our Lady of Peace (OLOP), part of KentuckyOne Health, has been named a recipient of the 2014 Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Award. The facility was recognized at the organization’s annual meeting, which was held on May 9.

Our Lady of Peace is the largest psychiatric hospital in the U.S. that provides care to children and adolescents. The facility’s Safety First initiative places patients’ and employees’ safety first in providing quality care. The program encourages the participation of families in the treatment process of the patient and in helping initiate and improve quality measures to promote safety. Daily safety huddles and a safety coach program are key components of the initiative.

“Quality of care is what our team strives to provide each patient, whether short-term acute/semi-acute inpatient, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient for children, adolescents and adults,” said Jennifer Nolan, president of Our Lady of Peace.  “We are honored that our Safety First initiative was recognized by the KHA again. This recognition is shared with all of our employees for their ongoing efforts to provide the highest quality of care in a safe environment.”

Patient safety and quality care are directly related to the hospital’s mission of reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence. Through the implementation of the “Safety First” program, Our Lady of Peace placed certified safety coaches in every hospital department.

The Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award is presented to honor hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety, and commitment in patient care. The goal is to raise awareness of the need for an organization-wide commitment to highly reliable, exceptional quality, patient-centered care and reward successful efforts to develop and promote improvements in quality of care.
