BARDSTOWN, Ky. (April 4, 2023) – Flaget Memorial Hospital has announced its 2022 Physician of the Year, Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year, Employee of the Year and Leader of the Year award recipients.

  • Dr. Tyler Holley, general surgeon, of Louisville, was recognized as Physician of the Year.
  • David Kendrick, certified registered nurse anesthetist, of Shepherdsville, was recognized as APP of the Year.
  • Lori Abell, executive assistant, of Raywick, was recognized as Employee of the Year.
  • Nathan McCauley, rehabilitation therapy services supervisor, of Louisville, was recognized as Leader of the Year.

Each year, Flaget Memorial Hospital recognizes an outstanding Physician of the Year and Advanced Practice Provider of the Year who help to build healthier communities, as well as exhibit CHI Saint Joseph Health’s core values of compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence and collaboration. Dr. Tyler Holley was nominated for Physician of the Year by his colleagues, who say he exhibits integrity and excellence.

“Dr. Holley collaborates with physicians across the board to ensure the continuity of care for Flaget Memorial Hospital’s patients,” said a nominator. “He is patient-centered and truly cares about not only his patients but also his staff.”

This year’s Advanced Practice Provider of the Year, David Kendrick, CRNA, was also nominated by his colleagues.

“With over 30 years of hospital experience, David brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our department,” said a colleague. “Being one of the most dependable and reliable people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, David is the definition of a true professional. In addition to his exemplary work ethic, David is a compassionate and kind provider, who always puts the patient first.”

Flaget Memorial Hospital also recognizes an excellent Employee of the Year and Leader of the Year who go above and beyond their duties and demonstrate the health care system’s core values.

This year’s Flaget Memorial Hospital Employee of the Year is Lori Abell.

“Lori demonstrates CHI Saint Joseph Health’s core values throughout all she does,” said a nominator. “As the first person our staff sees when they enter administration, Lori is faced with every question, issue or situation they may have. Even when the situation may not be her job, Lori is always so understanding and compassionate and works to assist however she can. Lori promotes collaboration across our facility. She is truly a resource to all our leaders and promotes excellence and collaboration within our community by helping to facilitate community partnerships, events and engagements. Everyone can count on Lori to help or guide them in the right direction. She is patient and understanding and embodies our mission in her daily work.

Nathan McCauley has been named this 2022’s Leader of the Year, recognized for his outstanding leadership in a managerial position.

“Nathan spends countless hours making sure our team members and patients are well taken care of,” said a nominator. “When we switched to Epic EHR, an electronic health record platform, Nathan did more than what was expected of him and worked hard to make the system work for us, ultimately helping benefit our clients.”

All award winners were recently recognized during a special event and will be celebrated during the CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations’ Humankindness Gala in Lexington on April 15.
