Flaget Memorial Hospital Honors Employees with DAISY and BEE Awards

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (March 16, 2021) – Flaget Memorial Hospital has named its DAISY Award and BEE Award winners for the fourth quarter of 2020. Vanessa Blankenship, RN, Med-Surg, of Bardstown, received the DAISY Award for extraordinary patient care. James Hite, Environmental Services, of Bardstown, received the BEE Award for exceptional service.

The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that celebrates the extraordinary clinical skills and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Flaget Memorial Hospital is proud to be a DAISY Award Partner, recognizing a nurse with this special honor every quarter. Vanessa Blankenship was nominated for the DAISY Award by a Flaget Memorial Hospital patient.

“She is always there when you need her,” the patient said about Blankenship. “We call her our guardian angel.”

Similar to the DAISY Award, the BEE Award is a program that honors Flaget Memorial Hospital’s nursing support staff – patient care assistants, health unit coordinators, transporters and other technicians – who go above and beyond in service, care and compassion. The BEE Award celebrates unsung heroes who work directly with patients in support of nurses that go Beyond Exceptional Expectations (BEE). James Hite was nominated for the BEE Award by a fellow employee.

“James is a team player who is always willing to go above and beyond to help clean rooms on the obstetrics floor,” said Brooke Dadisman, RN, Flaget Memorial Hospital. “He has even stayed past his shift to help clean rooms post-delivery. Even the patients have great things to say – they mention that he cleans rooms spectacularly.”

The DAISY Award winners receive a certificate, DAISY Award pin and a hand-carved stone sculpture. The BEE Award winners are honored with a certificate and a BEE Award pin.
