Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation Receives Grant
to Support Breast HOPE Program
Grant will be used to increase early detection in community

Bardstown, Ky. (April 6, 2018) – The Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation, part of KentuckyOne Health, has been awarded a $19,875 grant from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ Breast Cancer Research and Education Trust Fund, to support the Breast HOPE program at Flaget Memorial Hospital.

The Breast HOPE program, which stands for Health Outreach, Prevention and Education, will support efforts to increase early detection of breast cancer in the community, by empowering women and men with the knowledge of symptoms, as well as treatment options available in Nelson County and surrounding areas.

“This grant will support these ongoing efforts, allowing us the funds to purchase educational materials, mammogram pads, and offer transportation assistance to those who face added barriers to preventive cancer care,” said Leslie Smart, president, Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation. “This grant will help us educate men and women on the importance of taking an active role in their breast health, which is vital to early detection. Through early detection, we are working together to help reduce breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in Kentucky.”
