Dr. Timothy A. Jones Joins Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (July 23, 2020) – Timothy Jones, MD, FACS, has joined CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – General Surgery in Bardstown. Dr. Jones was born and raised in Kentucky, living in Ashland and Lexington until he attended medical school at the University of Louisville; he now resides in Bardstown. Dr. Jones spent the last 20 years providing quality surgical care to patients at a rural hospital that recently closed.

“I am committed to getting to know my patients because it makes me a better provider. I take the time to listen,” said Dr. Jones. “I know the value of family. When I see my patients, I know where they are coming from. It’s truly an honor to have someone trust you enough to operate on them.”

Dr. Jones has been interested in medicine since the second grade, when his class was required to create a health booklet. He was immediately fascinated with medical encyclopedias and learned the anatomy of the human body on his own. He decided to pursue his medical career in general surgery because he likes to work with his hands. “I was always taking toys apart to see how they worked.”

After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Jones completed his Medical Degree at the University of Louisville. Dr. Jones went on to complete his General Surgery Residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Jones is board certified in general surgery. His philosophy of care is “pairing knowledge with compassion, in order to provide consistent quality care.”

Dr. Jones and his wife, Nicky, have two daughters. During his free time, he enjoys trying to stay physically fit, and balancing his time between work and family.
