Dr. Casey Clark Joins CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Winchester

WINCHESTER, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2022) – Casey Clark, MD, a Vanceburg, Kentucky, native with a passion for helping improve health care in his home state, has joined CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Winchester. Dr. Clark comes to CHI Saint Joseph Health after completing a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics with UK Healthcare.

Dr. Clark completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Kentucky. He entered college with an interest in science and considered medical school after realizing a medical career would use his science skills while also allowing him to give back to the community. Dr. Clark says he grew up in an impoverished community and had never been exposed to the idea of practicing medicine, so he didn’t consider it a potential career path until he went to college.

“Because of my history and where I grew up, I’ve maintained an interest in rural health care,” Dr. Clark said. “I grew up in a family where no one was in medicine, but once I had this exposure as I entered college, it was an immediate fit. I learned about programs that combined that interest with my passion for the sciences, and I knew this is what I needed to be doing.”

Dr. Clark graduated from UK with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He was also a member of the University Honors Program and graduated magna cum laude. Upon entering medical school, he participated in UK’s Rural Health Scholars Program and Rural Physician Leadership Program. Both programs vet students interested in practicing in a rural area after they complete their medical education and training. The selection process is competitive, and the program allows students to complete multiple clinical rotations across Kentucky, depending on their specialty.

Dr. Clark says he’s looking forward to “taking care of what the patients care about” and seeing patients through their lives from childhood to adulthood. “I think it’s important to consider, does the patient want to do this? Is the patient going to do this? And I can meet them in the middle to work on their health. I think it’s important as physician to use opportunities to plant those seeds,” Clark said.

Dr. Clark has received several awards, including being named Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Teacher of the Year and Graduate Medical Education Resident of the Month at the University of Kentucky.

He encourages others to pursue their passion, just as he followed his into health care.

“I think we’ve seen in the last two and a half years, that people are starting to realize life is finite, and if you want to do something, try and do it,” said Dr. Clark.

In his free time, Dr. Clark enjoys cooking Asian cuisine and traveling, and looks forward to traveling abroad.

Dr. Clark is accepting new patients and will practice at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care, located at 1850 Bypass Road in Winchester. For more information or to make an appointment, patients can call 859.744.5111.
