CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Bardstown Welcomes Back Experienced APRN

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (Feb. 28, 2024) – Shannon Woods, APRN, has recently joined the team of caregivers at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Bardstown. Woods is a seasoned provider with more than 20 years of experience serving in emergency departments and urgent care centers, including a nearly decade-long stint at Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of CHI Saint Joseph Health.

Woods said she knew she wanted to be a nurse since she was 9 years old, later pursuing her passion and earning her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Louisville. She served emergency department patients in Louisville for two years before joining Flaget Memorial Hospital, where she worked in various units for nine years. Woods decided she wanted to elevate her nursing career and return to school, and completed the Family Nurse Practitioner Master’s Program at Indiana Wesleyan University in 2017.

“I was at the point in my career that I wanted to do something different,” said Woods. “I wanted to be able to help patients in a different way – I wanted more one-on-one time with them.”

Now, as a primary care provider, Woods’ care philosophy is rooted in ensuring her patients leave her office in better shape than they arrived. “My goal is for my patients to feel like they have been cared for and know that I’m their advocate and here to support them,” said Woods.

Woods is eager to once again be part of CHI Saint Joseph Health after having spent nearly half of her career serving within the health care system. “This is home to me. This is where my heart is at,” said Woods. “I knew I would eventually be back, and I’m so excited to return.”

Although originally from Louisville, Woods considers herself a true “Bardstonian.” Woods and her husband have two children, and they enjoy walking their dogs and taking family trips together.

Woods is practicing at CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Primary Care in Bardstown, located at 118 Patriot Drive, Suite 102. To make an appointment, call 502.350.1022.
