CHI Saint Joseph Health’s Haley Busch Recognized Nationally; Named to Catholic Health Association’s 2024 Class of Tomorrow’s Leaders

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 25, 2024) – Haley Busch, PharmD, BCPS, quality manager, Opioid Stewardship Program coordinator, CHI Saint Joseph Health, has been selected as a member of the 2024 Class of Tomorrow’s Leaders by the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA). Busch joins 11 other emerging leaders from across the country in receiving this honor. The honorees will be recognized during the annual Catholic Health Assembly 2024 in San Diego from June 9-11.

“Haley Busch’s national recognition for her leadership is a testament to her unwavering dedication and exceptional contributions to our patients, community and team,” said Anthony Houston, Ed.D., FACHE, market president, CHI Saint Joseph Health. “She epitomizes our core values of compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, and collaboration, and we are privileged to have her as part of our organization.”

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program was created in 2011 to identify and recognize promising young leaders who will provide strong leadership and dedication to Catholic health care. Each class consists of an impressive cadre of dedicated, high performing individuals who already have demonstrated commitment to advancing the healing mission. Nominees for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program must be currently working in a ministry organization and must be age 40 or younger at the time of nomination.

“I am honored to be in the 2024 Class of Tomorrow's Leaders. I believe that as a leader of a faith-based health care system, I have the unique ability and responsibility to ensure that we heal our patients with the power of humankindness and compassionate care,” Busch said. “I am committed to using my passion and expertise to make a difference in the communities that we serve.”

“Haley Busch exemplifies the qualities of a compassionate leader through a multitude of actions that prioritize patient well-being, foster collaboration and contribute to the overall enhancement of patient experience,” said her nominator. “These qualities have had a remarkable impact on patient outcomes and the broader health care community.”

Busch was nominated for her impactful leadership contributions at CHI Saint Joseph Health that reflect a deep commitment to the organization’s values, demonstrated through her patient-centered, multifaceted approach and holistic care initiatives. Busch has helped enhance the culture of CHI Saint Joseph Health by focusing on evidence-based practices and establishing personal connections with every patient. Her comprehensive approach helps ensure that CHI Saint Joseph Health is meeting not only a patient’s physical needs but also their emotional and psychological needs.

Recognized for her commitment to excellence, Busch has played a pivotal role in driving initiatives related to opioid stewardship, sepsis management, patient experience enhancement and infection control. Her efforts have led to tangible improvements in patient outcomes, including increased survival rates among patients with severe sepsis and septic shock, as well as advancements in safe opioid prescribing practices.

Busch is also deeply invested in addressing critical health care needs in the community. She has spearheaded initiatives such as the bi-annual Opioid Crisis Symposium, an event aimed at raising awareness and promoting dialogue around pressing health care issues. Through her advocacy, educational programs and community engagement efforts, Busch continues to make a meaningful difference in combating the opioid crisis and improving overall community health outcomes.

The annual Catholic Health Assembly is the largest gathering of Catholic health care leaders in the United States. This two-and-a-half-day event is hosted on an interactive platform where attendees engage with speakers, connect with colleagues, and create new friendships.
