CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations Awards Nearly $60,000 in Employee Scholarships

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 26, 2023) – CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations have awarded scholarships to 32 caregivers at CHI Saint Joseph Health facilities across Kentucky to advance their education in health care. In total, $58,800 in scholarships were given to employees at Continuing Care Hospital, Flaget Memorial Hospital, Saint Joseph Berea, Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph Jessamine, Saint Joseph London, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling and CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group.

“Our caregivers are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our patients and our communities,” said Delaine Thiel, CFRE, vice president, philanthropy, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations. “We are proud to support their continued educational endeavors to continually grow in their careers. These scholarships would not be possible without the support of our donors, who support our ministry in many ways, including by providing opportunities for our caregivers to further their educational and career goals."

The following employees were selected as a recipient of a scholarship:

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group

  • Alyssa Ray, appointment scheduler, who is pursuing an associate degree in applied science at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

 

Continuing Care Hospital

  • Chrisiana Donkor, RN, who is pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing at Northern Kentucky University;
  • Mary Riffe, RN, who is pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice at Walden University; and
  • Mariyah Sallee, monitor tech and health unit coordinator, who is pursuing a nursing degree at Eastern Kentucky University.

 

Flaget Memorial Hospital

  • Amy Crow, clinical informaticist, who is pursuing a bachelor of business administration with a concentration in health care management at Western Governors University; and
  • Davon Wright, certified surgical technologist, who is pursuing a degree in a surgical first program at Madisonville Community College. 

 

Saint Joseph Berea

  • Gwen Perch, RN, employee health lead, who is pursuing a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner degree at Walden University; and
  • Trevor Robinson, respiratory therapy supervisor, who is pursuing a bachelor of business administration with a concentration in healthcare management at Western Governors University.

 

Saint Joseph Hospital

  • Haley Barnes, student nurse extern, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Bluegrass Community and Technical College;
  • Brooke Cantrell, clinical informaticist, who is pursuing a bachelor of science in healthcare management at University of Phoenix;
  • Jody Cracraft, medical lab technologist, who is pursuing a degree in medical laboratory science in University of Arkansas;
  • Kristine Ehlert, director of clinic ethics, who is pursuing a degree in bioethics from Loyola University – Chicago;
  • Alexis Fryman, certified surgical first assistant, who is pursuing a degree at Bluegrass Community and Technical College;
  • Gregory Giles, market vice president of operations, who is pursuing a master of business administration in healthcare management at Western Governors University;
  • Randi Griffett, LPN, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Midway University;
  • Sandy Macias, nurse extern, who is pursuing a degree in nursing at Bluegrass Community and Technical College;
  • Clara Maciel, RN, virtually integrated care, who is pursuing a master of science in nursing education at Chamberlain University;
  • Nolana Redmon, certified pharmacy technician, who is pursuing a doctor of pharmacy at University of Kentucky;
  • Jocelyn Spauling, nurse extern, who is pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing at Midway University;
  • Marissa Stephens, pharmacist intern, who is pursuing a doctor of pharmacy at University of Kentucky;
  • Briana Thompson, LPN, who is pursuing a nursing degree from Sullivan University;
  • Ha’Jra Winn, student nurse extern and monitor tech, who is pursuing a degree in license practical nursing at Medical Career and Technical College; and
  • Rosine Yanyi, surgical technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

 

Saint Joseph London

  • Joshua Holland, RN, nurse manager, who is pursuing a master of science in nursing-family nurse practitioner at University of the Cumberlands;
  • Morgan Jackson, emergency room technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing at Somerset Community College; and
  • Kristen Raney, registered charge nurse, who is pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing at Lincoln Memorial University.

 

Saint Joseph Mount Sterling

  • Christina McGuire, patient care assistant, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing at Bluegrass Community and Technical College;
  • Carolina Nester, monitor technician, who is pursuing a degree in nursing at Bluegrass Community and Technical College;
  • Katlyn Sorrell, monitor technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing at Morehead State University;
  • Megan Stearns, RN, who is pursuing a master of science in nursing-family nurse practitioner at Northern Kentucky University; and
  • Austie Stewart, certified pharmacy technician, who is pursuing an associate degree in nursing at Morehead State University.

 

The scholarships were awarded earlier this month. Caregivers are eligible to apply for the scholarships after they have been with the organization for one year. As part of the application, the caregivers are asked to share how they will use their education to continue their call to serve at CHI Saint Joseph Health.
