2024 Humankindness Gala Pays Tribute to the Importance of Arts in Healing and Support Local Communities

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 18, 2024) – CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations will recognize the importance of the arts in healing during the second annual Humankindness Gala, set to take place on Saturday, May 18, at 6 p.m., at the Lexington Marriott Griffin Gate. The event also will pay tribute to the late Jeff Murphy, former vice president of Marketing and Communications for CHI Saint Joseph Health, and his love for the arts, while also recognizing 35 physicians, employees, and advanced practitioners of the year across communities served by CHI Saint Joseph Health, including Lexington, Bardstown, Berea, London, Mount Sterling and Nicholasville.

The Humankindness Gala, which brings together the five CHI Saint Joseph Health foundations, serves as a vital fundraiser, with proceeds directly supporting patients and families in local communities. Through a variety of programs, including employee financial assistance and patient and family financial assistance, the event aims to make a tangible difference in the lives of those CHI Saint Joseph Health serves.

“We take great pride in uniting our hospitals to celebrate the spirit of humankindness and honor the dedicated caregivers who tirelessly enhance the health and well-being of every patient in our care,” said Delaine Thiel, CFRE, market vice president, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations. “Our caregivers embody the core principles of humankindness with their steadfast commitment every day, and we are privileged to showcase their remarkable dedication at our humankindness Gala. We also will pay tribute to our esteemed colleague of over 30 years, the late Jeff Murphy, who epitomized humankindness in all that he did.”

In 2023, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations provided funding for critical needs, including lifesaving equipment, technological advancements, facility improvements, and more than $1.2 million in community and program assistance. Notable contributions included establishing a new neonatal facility at Saint Joseph London, implementing nursing call stations and emergency room renovations, and integrating artwork across facilities. Funds also supported patient and employee assistance, educational scholarships, acquiring a nuclear medicine camera at Saint Joseph Berea, and providing under-insured patients lifesaving screening services.

The gala will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by award presentations and dinner. The Best Kept Secret Live Band will provide entertainment.

A silent auction will also be held to help fundraise for the local hospitals. Those unable to attend but wish to support their local hospital can log on to HKF2024.ggo.bid starting on Monday, May 13, and register to bid.
