Managing Fatty Liver Disease with Dr. Bilal Aslam

Here in the United States, the obesity epidemic is causing a condition called fatty liver disease, which has become the most common cause of liver disease, even more common than alcohol use. Dr. Bilal Asalm explains.

Bilal Aslam, MD with CHI Saint Joseph Health – Gastroenterology

It kind of creates an inflammatory process in the liver that can progress and create fibrosis and eventually turn into cirrhosis. Fatty liver disease usually does not come with symptoms per se. Most times, it's found on evaluation during basic laboratory findings. 

If you have  some evidence of it or you know these things, and there's things that you can do to mitigate your risk going forward, a focus on lifestyle modifications. If you have other comorbidities, managing those, controlling your blood pressure and hypertension and diabetes, portion control, healthy eating, and just exercise.
