High-Risk Prenatal Care

The Women's Hospital Saint Joseph East specializes in high-risk prenatal care offering a comprehensive antepartum (before delivery) unit in our state-of-the-art facility located in Lexington, Kentucky. Our expert staff understands the emotional and physical demands being placed on the expectant mother while you spend part of your pregnancy on bed rest.

In an effort to provide personal and family comfort, we provide our patients with a bedside refrigerator. This gives you the ability to have food and drink of choice readily available.

Prenatal Health Concerns

Expectant mothers with pre-existing health issues may require specialized prenatal care. These pre-existing conditions include:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Pulmonary problems

Other risk factors for specialized prenatal services during pregnancy include:

  • Mothers who carry multiple babies (twins, triplets, quadruplets or more)
  • Women who have not been able to carry a pregnancy to term
