Holy Trinity Hosts “Eagles for Eden Spirit Day”
for Student Paralyzed by Backbend
Eden Hoelscher is recovering from a spinal cord injury at Frazier Rehab Institute

A local school is rallying behind a 5-year-old girl, paralyzed by a backbend last year. Thirteen months ago, Eden Hoelscher performed a backbend that hyper-extended her spine and left her paralyzed. Determined that she would walk again, Eden and her family moved to Louisville so that she could receive treatment at Frazier Rehab Institute, part of KentuckyOne Health. Eden attends therapy at Frazier Rehab Institute five days a week, and recently took her first steps with the support of her therapists, family and friends. However, Eden still has a long journey ahead of her to regain full mobility.

Holy Trinity Parish School, where Eden is in the 1st grade, will host an “Eagles for Eden Spirit Day” on Friday, Feb. 10 to show support for Eden. This event is part of the school’s “Everybody Counts Week,” a yearly event the school hosts. As part of Everybody Counts Week, Holy Trinity sold Eagles for Eden T-shirts to show support for the recovering student and to raise funds for the program that is helping her – the Pediatric NeuroRecovery Program at Frazier Rehab Institute. During the celebration, the school will present a check to officials with KentuckyOne Health.
