Saint Joseph Berea Receives $35,000 Grant to Support Pediatric Rehabilitation Services

BEREA, Ky. (July 25, 2023) – The Saint Joseph Berea Foundation, on behalf of Saint Joseph Berea, has received a $35,000 grant from WHAS Crusade for Children. The funding will help enhance the hospital’s pediatric rehabilitation therapy program, which provides comprehensive and specialized programming for children with disabilities and disorders.

With the funding, Saint Joseph Berea will acquire strength-building and vestibular support equipment, and additional items to ensure sensory building and patient safety. These resources will help provide specialized treatment and improve the development of evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each child’s unique needs and challenges.

“With this grant, we can further our commitment to providing high quality care and supporting children in our community who face various challenges,” said Delaine Thiel, CFRE, vice president of philanthropy, Saint Joseph Berea Foundation. “This funding will be used for resources to offer specialized treatment options to help each child reach his or her goal.”

Children with sensory processing disorders, injury recovery needs and speech disorders will benefit greatly from the enhanced services made possible by this grant. Acquiring the state-of-the-art equipment will enable the hospital’s staff to provide comprehensive and individualized care, helping children reach their full potential.

“Our pediatric rehabilitation therapy program helps children become more independent,” said John Yanes, president, Saint Joseph Berea. “We appreciate the continuing support from WHAS Crusade for Children as we live our mission to improve the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable.”

The WHAS Crusade for Children is committed to improving the lives of children with special needs. By supporting Saint Joseph Berea, the Crusade is helping to ensure that children in the community have access to the care and support they deserve. This grant reflects the shared vision of both organizations, positively impacting the lives of children and their families.

“Saint Joseph Berea is truly making a difference in the lives of many children and their families daily,” said Dawn Lee, president and CEO, WHAS Crusade for Children. “Having access to specialized and comprehensive care closer to home helps alleviate the stress many families face, and we are proud to support Saint Joseph Berea and their impact.”
