Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Announces 2020 Scholarship Award Recipients

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (July 8, 2020) – The Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has selected five recent high school graduates as the recipients of its annual scholarship award, which will provide each student with a $1,000 scholarship for the upcoming school year.

  • Maggie Piles – Nelson County High School, University of Louisville, Emergency Room Medicine
  • Jaylene Hughes – Nelson County High School, Northern Kentucky University, Physical Therapy
  • Kaiden Thompson – Bardstown High School, Morehead State University, Physical Therapy
  • Kailee Miller – Thomas Nelson High School, Western Kentucky University, Speech Pathology
  • Bailey Mudd – Bethlehem High School, University of Kentucky, Nursing

“The Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is honored to support the dedicated and hardworking students of Nelson County as they begin this next chapter in their educational journeys,” said Rita Carter, president, Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. “We are confident that each recipient will quickly rise to the top of their selected health care fields and become leaders of the next generation of medical professionals.”

The Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary scholarship was established in 2004 and has awarded approximately $60,000 to date. Students eligible to apply must be pursuant of a degree or career in the medical field, or related disciplines, at a college or technical school, beginning in the fall of the subsequent school year.

Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of CHI Saint Joseph Health, is a 52-bed facility located in Bardstown, KY. Established in 1951 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, the facility serves residents of Nelson, Hardin, Marion, Washington, Spencer, Bullitt and LaRue counties. The facility is also home to Nelson County’s first full-service cancer center.
