Cardiac Rehabilitation

State-of-the-Art Care in a Compassionate Setting

Saint Joseph Cardiac Rehabilitation Center conducts a comprehensive outpatient cardiac monitoring program to assist those who have heart disease. We provide individualized treatment plans designed to help patients who have had a cardiac event or procedure develop and maintain a productive and healthy life.

Key components to the success of the program are exercise and lifestyle modification as well as education. To achieve this goal, our professional staff includes a cardiologist, exercise physiologist and registered nurses who work as a team to help patients reduce their risk factors. All of our sessions are conducted in a safe and secure environment.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase I, II, III

Cardiac rehabilitation is conducted in three phases:

Phase I: Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation

Patients who are still in the hospital following a cardiac event or procedure will be seen by our cardiac rehabilitation staff. During evaluation, patients will learn about heart disease, including:

  • Signs and symptoms
  • Do's and Don'ts at home
  • Medication instruction

Follow-up planning is provided for transition to outpatient care and Phase II: Early Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Phase II: Early Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation

Phase II typically starts two weeks after a cardiac event or procedure and covers:

  • Focused education
  • Counseling - Managing stress is a major factor in successful recovery following a cardiac event or procedures. Our staff provides support and encouragement patients need for positive long-term outcomes.
  • Exercise - Our state-of-the-art Center features advanced exercise equipment, including treadmills, exercise bikes, free weights and a multi-gym weight system.

Experienced cardiac nurses provide heart monitoring and personalized supervision during exercise in our outpatient facility.

Phase III: Maintenance and Prevention

Beginning two to three months following a cardiac event or procedure, patients have the option of a low-cost, safe alternative to traditional gyms to help with recovery. Rehabilitation staff manages member compliance with lifestyle changes during regularly scheduled follow-up appointments and continued education.
