Pharmacy at Saint Joseph East

Saint Joseph East (SJE) is a community hospital with 217 beds, located in the rapidly growing southeastern part of Lexington, Kentucky.  SJE is a member of Catholic Health Initiatives, one of the nation's largest not-for-profit health care organizations.  At Saint Joseph East, high quality inpatient care, ambulatory surgery, and 24-hour emergency care are supported through traditional services such as Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Urology, Neonatology, Pulmonary, Nephrology, and Infectious Disease.

Additional specialty services include a 30 bed Long-term Acute Care Hospital, the Breast Center, Kid Traxx (after-hours pediatric emergency center), Sleep Wellness Center, Diabetes and Nutrition Center, the Center for Weight Loss Surgery, Maternity and Women services, and Rehabilitation services.  Saint Joseph East was named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals by Thompson Reuters for four years in a row.  Saint Joseph East is conveniently located adjacent to physicians' offices at the Lexington Clinic and Saint Joseph East Medical Office Building.  Saint Joseph East's growth continues with the completion of a 60,000 square foot Women's Hospital.

The pharmacy staff is comprised of hospital based pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, two PGY1 pharmacy practice residents, and technical staff.  Members of the pharmacy staff provide both centralized and decentralized pharmaceutical care and patient education throughout the institution to assure safe, accurate, rational and cost-effective medication therapy. 

Daily activities focus on the provision of pharmaceutical care within the department's clinical role in assuring patient-centered, rational drug therapy.  Clinical pharmacy services are offered in collaboration with health care professionals for the cure and prevention of disease.
