Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation Reaches $1.2 Million Fundraising Goal

Bardstown, Ky. (December 16, 2019) – Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation announced Tuesday, Dec. 10, that it has raised $1.275 million for Project Hope to support expansion of the CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care Center at Flaget Memorial Hospital. The exciting announcement was made during the Bourbon & Bluegrass Holiday Bash to a sold-out crowd of 170 guests.

A special $200,000 gift was announced that included four donors – Bill and Mary Florence Barnes, Haydon Materials and ARMAG Corporation, Divisions of Haydon Holdings, LLC, David and Mary Stuart Haydon, and the Albert and Leona Haydon Family Foundation. The Haydons expressed gratitude for the community's support of their businesses, which allows them to give back to the community.

“We look forward to the Bourbon & Bluegrass Holiday Bash each year,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, president, Flaget Memorial Hospital Foundation. “The Haydons helped us reach our fundraising goal and made this year’s event so very special. We are also grateful for the generous donations received over the last two years for Project Hope. These gifts will allow us to provide improved cancer care in the Bardstown community.”

In addition to the funding from Project Hope, which added 3D mammography to the Flaget cancer center in 2018, the dollars raised will help expand the cancer center adding more infusion rooms, a resource center and a pharmacy. With these new additions, the cancer center can continue working toward its mission – to catch cancer early and stop it, with the strongest, most comprehensive care.

“We’re honored to be part of this landmark year for the Bourbon & Bluegrass Holiday Bash and contribute to Project Hope,” President and CEO Mark Erwin, Bardstown Bourbon Company, presenting sponsor of the event. “This fun night of bourbon, camaraderie and giving will benefit the hundreds of patients that Flaget Memorial Hospital will serve at the expanded cancer center.”
