Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Honors Local Nurse with Daisy Leader Award - Archived

Mount Sterling, Ky. (August 26, 2019) — Saint Joseph Mount Sterling has announced a Daisy Leader Award winner for the second quarter of 2019. Lisa Peck, BSN, RN, CNML, received the Daisy Leader Award for the 2019 fiscal year in recognition of her outstanding leadership and ability to adapt and overcome in any situation.

The Daisy Leader Award is part of the Daisy Award, a nationwide program that celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Saint Joseph Mount Sterling is proud to be a Daisy Award Partner, recognizing a nurse with this special honor every quarter and nurse leaders on an annual basis.

Peck was nominated for the Daisy Leader Award by a co-worker for her tireless efforts in ensuring excellent quality of patient care and department efficiency. She is also recognized as being a terrific leader and supporter in the surgical department.

One particular case exemplifies her commitment and dedication to the safety and care of patients. The department’s washer, which sterilizes surgical instruments, had malfunctioned and would not work. Lisa mobilized her department to get the washer fixed as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Lisa stayed after hours, late into the evenings, washing and sterilizing instruments. She came to work early to ensure that surgical trays were correctly shipped to other CHI Saint Joseph Health facilities for sterilization and stayed late to confirm they were received and ready for surgeons the following day.

“Lisa is determined, strong and has a great ability to handle difficulties,” said a co-worker. “The surgeons and other managers respect her because she gets things fixed and keeps our departments so organized.”

Peck was recognized with a Daisy Leader Award certificate, statue and lapel pin.
