Lexington, Ky. (August 26, 2019) – Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East were recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as Best Hospitals 2019-20 for exceptional patient care. Saint Joseph Hospital was recognized for its colon cancer surgery and heart services. Saint Joseph East received this honor for its hip and knee replacement procedures.

Saint Joseph Hospital provides comprehensive heart and vascular services, ranging from emergency care for heart attacks to minimally invasive treatments.

“Saint Joseph Hospital is a longstanding leader for medical care in the Lexington community,” said Bruce Tassin, CEO, CHI Saint Joseph Health, and president, Saint Joseph Hospital. “It’s a great honor to be recognized as a Best Hospital for heart and cancer care.”

Each year, more than 400,000 people undergo joint replacement surgery, including hip and knee replacement procedures. These surgeries improve quality of life for those with chronic joint pain.

“Saint Joseph East provides an atmosphere of wellness for joint care that contributes to faster healing through patient education, advanced pain management and navigation assistance at every step of the process,” said Tassin. “This recognition is well-deserved. The physicians and staff at Saint Joseph East go above and beyond to help joint surgery patients.”

Saint Joseph Hospital also offers the most advanced technology available for colon cancer surgery, including da Vinci® robotic colectomy for reduced pain and faster recovery. The facility’s team of gastroenterologists, oncologists, specially trained nurses and support staff work with each individual patient to create a personalized treatment plan.
