Flaget Memorial Hospital Honors Employees with Daisy and Rose Awards - Fourth Quarter/2018 - Archived

Bardstown, Ky. (March 15, 2019) — Flaget Memorial Hospital has named its Daisy and Rose Award winners for the fourth quarter of 2018. Tabitha Thompson, RN, Flex Team, received the Daisy Award, while Carolyn Lucas, Patient Access Lead, received the Rose Award.

The Daisy Award is a nationwide program that celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Flaget Memorial Hospital is proud to be a Daisy Award Partner, recognizing a nurse with this special honor every quarter. For the fourth quarter of 2018, a Flaget Memorial Hospital patient nominated Thompson for the Daisy Award.

“Tabitha went above and beyond to make sure I was as comfortable as possible and explained everything she was doing,” said the patient. “She did an amazing job and has an amazing heart.”

Similar to the Daisy Award, the Rose Award is a program that honors Flaget Memorial Hospital’s non-nursing personnel. The Rose Award, short for Recognition of Service Excellence, celebrates unsung heroes who work tirelessly to provide the best possible service. This quarter, two co-workers at Flaget Memorial Hospital nominated Lucas for the Rose Award.

“She is the glue that holds the department together,” said one co-worker. “She always makes sure everyone is taken care of. She truly is an amazing person and team lead.”

Another co-worker said, “She spends countless hours to cover a lot of areas in Patient Access. She is very dependable, reliable and knowledgeable of this area, and is a hard worker.”

Thompson received a certificate, Daisy Award pin, a hand-carved stone sculpture and a bouquet of daisies. Lucas was honored with a certificate, Rose Award pin, a hand-sculpted basket from Uganda and a bouquet of roses to display in her department.
