Saint Joseph Berea Celebrates 120th Anniversary - Archived

Berea, Ky. (November 26, 2018) – Saint Joseph Berea is celebrating 120 years in the community, serving residents of Madison, Estill, Garrard, Jackson and Rockcastle counties. Founded in 1898, the facility has grown over the years to offer services, resources and health care expertise in more than 200 locations across the state.

In honor of its 120th anniversary, Saint Joseph Berea will host a celebration event for employees on Wednesday, November 28, from noon to 1 p.m. in the board room of Saint Joseph Berea, located at 305 Estill Street in Berea. The event is open to the media.

Saint Joseph Berea was first named Berea College Hospital. Today, the facility is a 25-bed critical care access hospital that offers a full array of inpatient and outpatient services.

“Although our facility has continued to get larger over the years, our culture remains the same,” said Terry Deis, president, Saint Joseph Berea. “We are fortunate to have compassionate employees who make this facility the very best and who also ensure our patients receive the best care while at our facility. This is an exciting anniversary to celebrate.”

The hospital serves more than 19,000 families and offers advanced state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment techniques, as well as a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services and resources.

The facility has been recognized many times for excellence, including by The Joint Commission, a leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States, as well as the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award. It received a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2017.
