Here you’ll find some of the most advanced technology available to treat many types of cancer, along with the highly personalized and compassionate care you’d expect from a community hospital.

We offer two convenient oncology locations in Lexington, including comprehensive support and cancer clinical trials. Saint Joseph East offers medical oncology services at these same building locations. We’ve made sure it’s all easy to access, too—parking is just a few feet away.

Let's Conquer Cancer Together

CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care at Saint Joseph Hospital offers everything you need to fight cancer with confidence:

Nationally Recognized Programs

We’ve earned full accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. This distinction recognizes our commitment to delivering the highest-quality, patient-centered care. CHI Saint Joseph Health – Cancer Care, sponsored by Catholic Health Initiatives, also participates in the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) community oncology research program – a national NCI-supported network that brings cancer prevention and treatment clinical trials and cancer care delivery research (CCDR) to people in their communities.

Multi-Skilled Team Approach

Throughout your journey, you’ll have the same cancer care team by your side, including some of Central Kentucky’s most experienced oncologists. They’re backed by highly skilled nurses with advanced certification and training that goes well beyond national standards. Together, these experts work closely with cancer surgeons, radiologists, hematologists and more specialists to ensure you receive the best possible care.

Prevention and Early Detection

Your best defense against cancer is to prevent it from occurring, or catching it in its earliest stages, when it’s highly treatable. We provide the latest cancer screenings, including digital and 3D mammography and low-dose lung CT scans. Advanced imaging services, including CT/PET CT, MRI and ultrasound, are also available at our nearby outpatient locations to help confirm a diagnosis and put you on the fast track to treatment.

If you have a family history of cancer, we offer genetic cancer counseling, a service of Saint Joseph East, to address hereditary concerns. If needed, your counselor will also coordinate genetic testing, walk through the results and discuss next steps.

Advanced Treatments and Therapies

We offer sophisticated radiation technologies to target tumors with extreme precision. That includes the Elekta Versa HD and Agility linear accelerators that delivers higher doses of radiation to the tumor, with minimal exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. Additional technologies includes Advanced Breathing Coordinator (ABC), 4D large bore CT simulation and advanced treatment planning.

Should you need surgery, we treat a variety of cancers using the da Vinci® robotic surgical system, which requires just a few small incisions. For patients, that often means significantly less pain, fewer complications and faster recovery.

Personalized Cancer Rehabilitation

Cancer and its treatment can affect you physically, interfering with your ability to function and what you need and love to do. Our cancer rehabilitation program is designed to help keep you as strong and independent as possible.

Our licensed therapists will work with you to create a personal plan, including pre-rehab to help prepare you for treatment and recover more quickly. Throughout your journey, we’ll also help you improve strength, stamina and mobility; manage symptoms like pain, fatigue or muscle weakness; increase your ability for self-care; heal faster following each treatment; and support your emotional health and overall wellbeing.

Comprehensive Support Services

We’re committed to caring for the whole you and understand that cancer doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed. You and your loved ones have access to a full range of free cancer support services— from comprehensive education to individualized nutritional and spiritual counseling, support groups and more — to meet your needs.

Our certified social workers are available to meet with family members while patients are getting treatment, and are just a phone call away for information and comfort.

Lifelong Follow-Up Care

Our care doesn’t end with treatment. We’re here to help you thrive when you become a survivor of cancer, providing the support you need to get back to a healthy and active life after cancer. Our team can provide resources and recommendations for follow-up care after you complete your treatment plans. This helps you be better prepared to enjoy the rest of your life.
